Tiny Gardeners: Illinois State Horticulture Center's Autumnal Festival

Project type:

Illustrations, Branding Design, Print Design

Date:

September 2024

For this project, I developed a cohesive branding campaign for the Children’s Garden at the Horticulture Center’s Autumnal Festival, designed to engage young visitors and their families. The goal was to create an immersive experience that made learning about nature fun and accessible.

To achieve this, I designed a horticulture-themed coloring book featuring simple, educational illustrations of plants, flowers, and gardening tools. This encouraged creativity while fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world. To enhance visibility and engagement, I created a large, welcoming banner and custom characters that became the centerpiece of the branding. These characters were featured on stickers, yard signs, and life-sized cutouts, transforming the garden into an interactive space.

To further enrich the experience, I designed sensory-based yard signs with prompts that encouraged families to explore textures, smells, and sights in the garden. This interactive element helped deepen connections to the environment while making the festival more engaging for children.

By integrating illustration, design, and education, this branding campaign transformed the Children’s Garden into a playful and immersive space, reinforcing the festival’s mission to celebrate nature and learning.
